HAPPY HOLIDAYS

I hope your holiday season was a joyous one spent with family and friends.  Mr. Squareview and I enjoyed several days off with family this week and are looking forward to a little trip away to celebrate New Years Eve.

2012 has been an amazing year and wonderful things continue to happen for my little studio.  I can't wait to share some recent good news with you along with more design adventure to come in 2013.

Until then, Happy Holidays!

DIY PAPER SNOWFLAKE

Making a DIY snowflake is easy, describing how to make it is hard!  I'm admitting defeat and choosing to defer to the master, Lia Griffth of Elli.  In addition to her gorgeous work in paper fashion and her fabulous Stationery Shop, she writes a great blog full of inspirational paper items.

Check out the blog called Ellinee Journal here.

Lia vastly improved the template I was originally using and put together a fantastic step by step to boot.  Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel for this edition of Do It Yourself December, I'll point you over to Lia's site instead.  You can find both the DIY step by step and the Snowflake Template here.

I had a blast putting together my snowflakes and I hope you do too!  Happy Wednesday!

PRINTABLE HOLIDAY PAPER BOWS

Do It Yourself December continues!  Next up, fun do it yourself paper bows.  I've been seeing these guys all over Pinterest lately and had to take a stab at creating my own.  These cuties are so fast and simple to make and will add a sweet personalized touch to your gift giving this season.

We'll keep it simple for this one.  All you'll need is a printer, scissors and tape.

HOW TO - PREPPY BLUE BOW:

  1. Print and cut out the pattern using scissors or a Xacto knife
  2. Curve the right edge of the top bow to the middle and secure it with a small piece of tape.
  3. Do the same with left side.
  4. Tape the top part of the bow to the bottom section
  5. Wrap the tail section of the bottom bow across the top bow.  Tape on the back side.
The directions are shown below.  If you would like the stripes to show on the outside as they do in my photos, make sure you start with the pattern side down.

HOW TO - CANDY CANE BOW:

  1. Print and cut out the pattern using scissors or a Xacto knife
  2. Moving counter clockwise, curve each end towards the middle and secure it with tape one section over as shown below.
  3. Once each section is complete, curve the edges of the center section together and secure with tape.
  4. Tape the center section to the middle of the bow.

Download the front and back of each design below.  When printing, print the the front first then flip your paper over and on the same sheet, print the back design.  Enjoy!

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Tomorrow is my birthday. It is a special one this year, not because of the age I will turn, but the full date I will turn it. 12-12-12. To celebrate this golden birthday, Mr. Squareview has whisked me off to Puerto Rico to enjoy a few days in the sun.

Never fear, I have a couple Do It Yourself December posts ready to go while I'm gone. But for today, I just wanted to share this view.

MUSIC MONDAY vol 32

I have a friend that says it's truly not Christmas until she hears this song on the radio.  I completely agree.  I remember opening up this 45 record and playing it over and over again on Christmas (yes, I said 45 record).  I could still put this on repeat today and not get sick of it.

How many of the artist in this iconic video can you name?  I'm at about 87%.  Happy Monday!

FREEBIE FRIDAY - HOLIDAY GIFT TAGS

Do It Yourself December continues today! Yippee!

I don't know about you, but I never seem to have enough tags when I'm wrapping gifts and if I do remember to buy them, the selection sitting next to the wrapping paper is pretty limited. Is it just me or do they all look to be the exact same ones my parents used for my gifts in the 80's?  Not cute.

This year, I decided to take the bull by the horns and create my own.   I've created 3 different gift tag sets, each with their very own little personality. And in the spirit of the holidays, I want to share a different set with you each and every Friday.

First up - my Mod Minty Green Set.  This modern & simple set would be perfect for any package. Print out on some card stock or sticker paper, cut, and address.  With these cuties, your gifts will look gorgeous under the tree.

Mittens, ornaments  and tress, oh my!

Have a great weekend everyone!
